Health & Safety Information
At B.F.T. we put safety first and go to great lengths to ensure our operatives are always safety conscious. This is supported by comprehensive staff training and our membership of IPAF and CITB who, correctly, attach great importance to health and safety awareness.
Awareness of Health & Safety issues in the work environment is vital
At B.F.T. we address this awareness in a number of different ways:
- Included in every contract we undertake is an industry recognized procedure including Health & Safety Method Statements and full Risk Assessments.
- A comprehensive survey of all contracts and specific issues relating to safe working practices is undertaken.
- A full report is produced to ensure that all possible issues are managed safely, including the induction of employees to site and briefing before any work is allowed to proceed.
Our aim is to achieve the highest standards in Health & Safety and environmental matters currently being adopted in the UK. To this end we will:
- Develop and maintain a positive safety, health and environmental culture.
- Identify hazards and adequately assess and control risk to which employees and others may be exposed.
- Continually improve our safety, health and environmental performance.
- Promote appropriate safety, health and environmental training to develop employees as a key resource.
- Periodically review the safety, health and environmental management system and audit compliance policy.
- Publicise internal safety, health and environmental targets.
Provide appropriate resources to implement policy. - Operate in accordance with UK industrial practices - including available recognised guidance - and in compliance with legal requirements.
- The standards for safe working procedures and guidance are set out in the Company Safety Health and Environmental Manual.
- Continually monitor the introduction of new legislation and operational guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Issue monthly safety bulletins.
- Carry out Tool Box talks.
Training
At B.F.T., we continually invest in training at every level with a permanent member of staff dealing with Health and Safety requirements and ensuring that all our operatives are fully trained and aware of their responsibilities to all personnel.
Ongoing site operative training takes various forms and results in certification in areas that include:
- Mast Climbing Working Platforms (MCWPs):
Installer Training, Demonstrator Training, Operator Training. - Other
Forklift Training, Telescopic Handler, Hiab Crane, Slinger Signalling and more.
We supply our workforce with all necessary safety clothing and require them to wear the company PPE for ease of identification.
B.F.T. Mastclimbing also invests in the CITB Training Scheme for apprentices and trainees. With trainees continually working within the CITB scheme, we see significant benefits in this investment in our employees, many of whom have completed the programmes to achieve full accreditation. This ensures we have a fully qualified workforce with 100% commitment to cscs/cisrs schemes.
